pumpkin
The word pumpkin originates from the word pepon, which is Greek for “large melon.” The French adapted this word to pompon, which the British changed to pompion and later American colonists changed that to the word we use today, “pumpkin.” The origin of pumpkins is not known, although pumpkins are thought to have originated in North America. The oldest evidence, pumpkin-related seeds dating between 7000 and 5500 B.C., were found in Mexico. Pumpkins are a squash-like fruit that range in size (less than 1 pound (0.45 kilograms) to over 1,000 pounds (453.59 kilograms)), shape, color, and appearance (smooth or ribbed).
China Recalls All Milk Made Before Sept. 14
All liquid and powdered milk made in China before Sept. 14 has been ordered removed from shelves and tested for the chemical melamine. It's the first time since the tainted dairy scandal erupted last month that the government has ordered a blanket recall of products.
"Regardless of the brand or the batch, they must be taken off shelves, their sale must be stopped," the official news agency Xinhua said Tuesday, the Associated Press reported.
The diary products will only be allowed back on store shelves after they pass quality tests and are labeled as safe, said Xihhua, which did not provide any more details or explain why the recall was taking place now.
Until this week, only some types of milk powder and milk had been recalled in mainland China, the AP reported. A Sept. 16 recall was issued for 69 batches of milk powder made by 22 companies and a Sept. 19 recall was issued for liquid milk.
Nutrition can be an engrossing subject to learn about when it comes to nutrition. But the basic idea is “What goes in must come out.” Your body takes what it needs from what you give it and gets rid of the rest via the excretory system.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- Every year for nearly two decades, Florida farmers have gathered at the Suwannee Valley Twilight Field Day to hone their craft, often learning how to grow more luscious and larger fruits and vegetables. This year, however, there was a new lesson being offered: how to grow small.
Dubbed one of 2008’s culinary buzzwords by National Public Radio, microgreens—vegetables harvested soon after sprouting—are expected to be one of this summer’s hottest food trends, as well as a boon to many small specialty farms that provide them to restaurants and farmers’ markets.
Experts at the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences are helping farmers take advantage of the phenomenon.
With the surging interest in organic gardening, some organic gardeners who have always grown their own fruit and vegetables, have turned their passions and hobbies into businesses. Here are a few ideas on how to turn your love of organic gardening into a full fledged business.
Types of businesses that could be opened:
Organic gardening store supplying organic fertilizers and gardening products.
Organic landscaping service that uses only organic methods for garden and lawn care.
A company that installs and maintains organic vegetable gardens in backyards of homes. Customers pay a weekly fee for maintenance and harvesting of the garden crops when mature.
